Hello, friends Hien Butler here and I’m quite happy to see you.
One of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done was write Happiness Road: A Journey to Inner Joy and Harmony.
I put everything I had on these pages—my troubles & lessons, because I wanted to share something real. Something that could remind you that happiness is always possible and walk by your side when life becomes difficult.
Why I Wrote Happiness Road
I carried a lot of anguish and difficulties for a long time. I carried a lot of anguish and difficulties for a long time. I lost loved ones, went through pain & occasionally felt quite alone. But I also found out something important: no matter how dark life seems, there’s always a light ready to guide you.
Writing this book helped me find meaning in my own pain.
I wanted to create a self-help book that felt real—not just words on a page, but something filled with lived experience & truth.
I wrote each chapter hoping you’d finish it feeling less alone, more hopeful & stronger for your own journey.
The Heart of Happiness Road
Living the ideal existence is not the focus of this book. It is about discovering how to be happy and at peace even in the midst of a far from ideal life. I relate true tales of my personal path, including times of calm joy, bravery and tragedy.
I also provide you with thought-provoking questions and doable actions since I think that everyday practice of small things leads to transformation. I want you to take a moment to read this, think about it and attempt anything simple to get yourself closer to inner peace.
Lessons That Changed My Life
Here are some of the lessons that shaped not only my book, but also my life:
1. Happiness Is a Daily Choice
I learned that happiness is not something we wait for. It is something we create. We have the ability to choose to see the beauty around us, even during difficult circumstances. We can be reminded of joy by a friend’s smile, a stroll outside or even just a brief period of silence.
2. Pain Can Become Our Teacher
For a long time, I thought difficulties meant I was broken. But later, I saw that pain was shaping me, teaching me and giving me strength. This is why Happiness Road is also one of those books to overcome difficulties—because it shows that the very things we think will break us can become the reasons we rise.
3. Small Steps Create Big Change
When I felt lost, I started with small actions—like joining the YMCA to learn how to swim, applying for a part-time job or writing down my dreams. Each small step gave me hope. Over time, those small actions built a new life for me. That is why I tell you in the book: do not wait for the big moment—start with one small step today.
4. True Joy Comes from Within
I discovered that happiness is not in money, status or what others think of us. It is in our relationships, in our values and in how we choose to live every day. This is why Happiness Road belongs among the best self help books—because it brings us back to what really matters.
5. We Can Create Our Own Legacy
Every action we take leaves a mark. I believe we can choose to leave behind a legacy of kindness, courage & love. That is the gift of living with intention.
Who I Wrote This Book For
I wrote Happiness Road for anyone who:
- Feels lost and is searching for direction.
- Is going through grief, loss or hardship.
- Wants to feel peace and balance in everyday life.
- Loves books that will help you reconnect with your inner strength.
Whether you are a student, a parent or someone standing at a crossroads in life, this book is my hand reaching out to say: you are not alone.
How You Can Use This Book
When I was writing, I wanted this book to be more than words on a page. I wanted it to be something you can live with every day. Here are a few ways you can use it:
- Start your mornings with gratitude. I often begin by writing three things I am thankful for. It sets the tone for the day.
- Take one small action. Pick something easy that brings you calm, like calling a friend, taking a walk or writing in a diary.
- Reflect each night. Use the questions at the end of chapters to check in with yourself.
- Spread joy. Even small acts of kindness can lift both you and someone else.
I believe these little practices are the seeds of lasting happiness.
Why This Book Matters Now
The world we live in is full of stress, noise & uncertainty. Feeling overburdened is really simple. For this reason, I think we need gentle reminders that happiness is still achievable now more than ever. Happiness Road is a book you may turn to whenever you need inspiration, courage or peace rather than a quick remedy.
A Little About Me
I have been a teacher, coach & mentor for more than 25 years. Helping others develop, believe in themselves and live resilient, loving lives has always been my passion. I used to be inspired, uplifted & guided by books. It’s my turn now to give back by telling you my own tale. I wanted to spread the light that once led me by writing Happiness Road.

My Final Message to You
Happiness is not a destination. It is in how we treat ourselves with kindness, how we love others and how we deal with hardships. My present to everyone looking for brightness in the dark is my book, Happiness Road: A Journey to Inner Joy and Harmony.
If you just remember one thing from my experience, it should be that joy is always closer than it looks and you are stronger than you realize. I hope what I’ve said serves as a reminder that your own path to pleasure is waiting for you, moment by moment and step by step.
With love and gratitude,
Hien Butler
